Introducing Dr. Robert Shapiro

About Dr. Shapiro

Dr. Shapiro completed his pre-chiropractic schooling in St. Louis, MO in 1996.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from Logan University, and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2000. He moved to Stockton, CA and established Shapiro Chiropractic in 2001.

Dr. Shapiro was an amateur competitive bodybuilder.  He also competed in mixed martial arts, judo and jujitsu tournaments.  He continues to privately instruct Stocktonians in self defense, and has worked exclusively with police officers of the Stockton Police Department.  He enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, skydiving, biking and rockclimbing.  To stay in shape, Dr. Shapiro incorporates weightlifting, kettlebell training, TRX system and various forms of cardiovascular exercise.  Of course, Dr. Shapiro gets adjusted on a regular basis in order to keep his nervous system in peak condition to withstand both the rigors of his training, and of his daily life, as well as preventing injuries and illness.  He believes strongly in the emerging model of wellness care, rather than our current sickness care model of health (waiting for symptoms and then taking action).

Dr. Robert Shapiro is a licensed Chiropractor serving the Stockton community for over 8 years.

Dr. Robert Shapiro has been freeing people from pain in his clinic in Stockton, CA, as well as helping them achieve their fullest potential. As a Chiropractor with over ten years of experience, Dr. Shapiro is committed to promoting optimal health and well being of patients.

Dr. Shapiro uses a "whole person approach". This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, Dr. Shapiro is able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.  Dr. Shapiro uses his knowledge of nutrition, exercise and positive mental attitude to help his patients be their best.  Dr. Shapiro is the only doctor in Stockton to incorporate the Z-Health System into his care protocols.  This system allows him to get fast results for his patients, whether they want to be pain free, or in the best shape of their lives.

Why I'm a Chiropractor

"When I was 17 years old, I was very active in bodybuilding and was preparing to compete in an amateur competition.  One day, I went into the gym and immediately grabbed a 90 lb pair of dumbells in order to perform Incline Dumbell Presses.  When I kicked the weights up in order to chamber them, my left arm went too far behind my head.  I heard a very loud series of pops in my left shoulder, dropped the weights, and ran out the door to the hospital.  I was very scared, as I could no longer use my left arm.  It felt as though it was going to tear out of socket if I allowed it to even rest at my side, so I held on to my shirt in order to hold it in place.

I went to the hospital, where they took x-rays of my shoulder to see if it was dislocated.  Since they found no dislocation or broken bones, they sent me on my way, without advising me on what happened or what to do.  I called my chiropractor, Dr. Robert Rimmer, in north St. Louis, MO, and asked what I should do.  He had me come into his office so he could do an examination.  After talking with me and performing an examination, he said  I had torn my Rotator Cuff, and immediately instructed me on what to do.  After about a month and a half of his care, along with therapies and exercises, I was back in the gym and was able to Bench Press over 300 lbs.!  I couldn't believe it!  Anyway, it was at that point that I realized I was meant to help others as a Doctor of Chiropractic.  I asked Dr. Rimmer if he felt Chiropractic was the path for me, and he said he could not imagine me doing anything else!  Thus began my eight year journey to my Doctorate.  Along the way, I've discovered many amazing ways to help people be healthy, and put control of their health back into their own hands."

"My mission is to help everyone that I can to live at their fullest potential by delivering the highest quality Chiropractic Care and advice to the residents of Stockton and San Joaquin Valley.  There is no higher honor than to help the sick and injured get well, and everyone be their healthiest.  I thank you for that privilege."
